Just got our 2025 Calligraphy Hybrid. When watching our motor control, you see the hybrid tab, but the battery never gets more than a bar or two over halfway full. No difference driving in town or long highway stretches. Is this normal? Or did I get a bad battery?
It always tries to stay at 50% to limit the number of cycles on the battery to increase its lifespan. It’s like how your phone or laptop tries to charge until 80% and stops. Since this is a hybrid, the battery stays around 50% most of the time.
Same, not sure, but I think it’s configured to be used that way. Maybe if you push the car harder and don’t use the EV mode, the battery will charge more?
Mine is the same.
I have a plug-in Calligraphy now but previously owned a Kia Sorento HEV for over three years, which uses the same platform as yours. In that time, the battery level rarely went higher than 25-45%. It’s just the way they function, I guess. Never had a problem and always got great mileage.
Same here, it typically maxes out around 75%. Coming down a mountain is about the only time I hit 100% because I use regen all the way down to save the brakes.
This is normal and better for the life of the battery.
It’s to prolong the life of the battery.
Turn on the auto regen and take a drive downhill, the battery will charge to 90+% and then stop charging.

Do you have to turn auto regen on every time you start your car? I have to manually turn it on each time. Any way to fix this?
Same here. The battery stays between 50-75% charged.
