I recently got a 2024 Santa Fe Calligraphy with my wife. At first, everything seemed perfect. But after about 1000 miles, this random “consider taking a break” message started popping up, mainly on back roads. I know there are threads about this issue on other models, but it seems like you can’t turn it off even when lane assist and driver attention are turned off. I contacted Hyundai, but they were no help. If I take it to the dealer, they’ll probably say everything’s fine without even fixing it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have a good fix for it? It’s driving me crazy hearing that ding every time, and the fact that we paid so much for this car, only for it to passive-aggressively tell me to take a break, is making me lose my mind. If you’ve seen the episode from It’s Always Sunny where Dennis takes a mental health day, that’s how I feel about this car.
Are you wearing polarized or dark sunglasses when this happens? I’ve seen some threads here where the infrared sensor can’t detect your eyes properly with certain sunglasses, causing that warning to keep coming up.
@Zyan
Nah, it happens even when driver attention is turned off. I can make it happen if I pretend to drive drunk and swerve a bit, but it goes off when we’re just driving normally.
I was towing and that message came up every 5 minutes or so… for 3 hours. It only happens when I’m towing. Definitely seems to be a bug when a trailer is plugged in.

Yeah, maybe the trailer was jerking the car around, so it thought you weren’t driving how it wants you to. It’s crazy that you can’t turn it off.

I was perfectly in my lane. We were driving at night, and my wife and two-year-old were asleep. The chime kept going off, which was annoying my wife. She was watching and confirmed I wasn’t swerving. It was pretty frustrating.
I don’t get it either. I drove from Wisconsin to Georgia with only two stops, and it never came on. But I’ve driven 30 minutes and had it pop up. I can’t figure out what triggers it.
The system checks how steady your driving is and your lane-keeping ability. If you’re being pushed or pulled by the trailer or drifting because of the trailer’s weight, it might trigger the warning. The lane camera sees lane-keeping, but the car’s computer doesn’t account for the fact that you’re towing a trailer.

Mine doesn’t go off if I have lane assist on. Maybe try using lane assist, especially on longer drives, to prevent it from happening.
Yeah, I’ve noticed it happens less when lane assist is on. But honestly, I find lane assist pretty annoying, especially on narrow roads around where I live. It keeps tugging me too close to the center.
