Hi All, I currently own a 2024 Palisade and opted for the 10-year/120k mile bumper-to-bumper extended warranty.
I’m now considering a used Santa Fe, possibly from 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023. My understanding is that the original warranties (5-year/60k bumper-to-bumper and 10-year/100k powertrain) are transferable to a new owner. Is that correct?
Also, if the current owner has purchased the optional 10-year/120k mile extended bumper-to-bumper warranty through Hyundai, does that transfer to me as well?
If the car is Certified Pre-Owned (CPO), the remaining warranties transfer over, including the powertrain. However, for regular used cars, the powertrain warranty is reduced to 5 years/60k miles for the second owner.
If you’re worried, I’d suggest getting an extended warranty. I own a 2021 Santa Fe and love it. Avoid the 2020 model as it has the older 2.4L engine. The 2022 and 2023 models come with some equipment updates that are worth checking out. The 2.5L engine has been very reliable so far!
@Kirby
The regular bumper-to-bumper warranty always transfers to the new owner. For powertrain warranties, CPO vehicles maintain the coverage, but non-CPO vehicles lose the 10-year/100k powertrain warranty.
