Suggestions for someone visiting without a car

I have a free day on an upcoming trip to Santa Fe and won’t have access to a car. I’m open to taking long walks but would like to experience nature and possibly visit some ruins. Could you recommend any places accessible by public transit or Uber? Thanks in advance!

I suggest renting a car if you’re interested in seeing either of those things.

Dale Ball Trails are a great option. I would suggest taking the free shuttle to the ski basin, but the roads are currently under construction and will be closed for about six weeks, except for one day each week.

You might consider exploring Santa Fe on foot: start at Canyon Road, then head to the Plaza, Museum Hill (which is a bit far), the Rail Yard, Lena Street, and perhaps Fort Marcy.

It’s challenging to get out to nature spots without a car. While there aren’t any ruins nearby, the Plaza area features some of the oldest buildings in the U.S. The closest ruins are likely at Pecos National Monument.

You won’t need a car. The public transportation in Santa Fe is excellent.
