Bought my 2025 Santa Fe back in October, and I’m having two electrical problems. Wondering if anyone else has experienced these and if I should call my salesperson or go straight to the service department. Car has less than 2K miles on it.
Issue 1: The power liftgate is acting weird. When I press and hold the button to close it, it just beeps forever and doesn’t move. Sometimes it stops halfway, and other times it works fine. Happens with both the button inside the car and the key fob.
Issue 2: The parking sensors won’t turn off no matter what I do. I’ve followed the manual’s instructions, turned them off in the settings, even disabled the sound alerts… and they still won’t stop beeping when I’m parking, reversing, or maneuvering in a tight spot. It’s driving me crazy.
I love the car so far, but I really hope these aren’t signs of bigger issues down the road. Anyone else dealing with this?
Issue 1: It might be detecting an obstruction, which is making it stop.
Issue 2: Unfortunately, you can’t permanently disable parking sensors. Since they’re considered a safety feature, they’ll reset every time you restart the car.
Both issues sound annoying, especially on a brand-new car, but they’re probably fixable. Since it’s under warranty, you should take it straight to the service department—they’ll handle it for free. The salesperson won’t be much help with technical stuff.
For the liftgate, it could be a faulty motor, sensor issue, or slight misalignment causing it to stick. As for the parking sensors, it sounds like a software bug since you’ve already tried disabling them in the settings.
When you go in, make sure they fully test everything while you’re there.
Normally, I’d say the salesperson isn’t the best person to call, but in your case, they might be able to explain how these features work. Over time, you might actually appreciate the sensors when they save you from hitting something.
For example, I used to get annoyed at the auto high beams cutting off when I stopped and only coming back on above 25 mph. Then I realized that’s just how they’re designed, even in other brands. I live in a hilly area with a wooded driveway, and the low-mounted headlights make it hard to spot deer. Had to manually use my high beams and just remember to turn them off when I got to the main road.
