I’m getting close to wrapping up a buyback for my ICE XRT, and I’m trying to figure out my next move. I signed the paperwork for the buyback last week, but then the dealer called and said my car was fixed. I’ve been driving it around, and I do love it… but I really don’t want any more headaches. I keep seeing posts about issues popping up, and it’s making me second-guess things. I’m hoping the 2025 models have those problems sorted out, but I’m also wondering if the DCT is just not a great fit for a vehicle of this size.
I think people are just now catching up to the problems the Santa Fe had. I haven’t seen any new posts about transmission problems in the last month or two. Most of what I’ve come across is from folks who are still waiting on a new transmission. I have seen a few mentions of electrical issues, like the infotainment screen going blank on the 2024 models, but there’s already a TSB for that, so it shouldn’t be an issue on the 2025s.
Honestly, everyone is right… go with the hybrid. We’ve got 5k miles on ours and haven’t had a single problem. We love it.

I’m definitely considering it. Is yours a 2024 or 2025?
@Sam
It’s a 2024.
I haven’t seen any reported problems with the hybrid models. It’s only about $500 more than the regular version.

Plus, you’ll probably save around $5k in gas for every 70,000 miles you drive.
@Reagan
Yeah, I’m averaging 32 mpg, but I get closer to 40 mpg on short trips. Most non-hybrids seem to average around 22 mpg. It’s a huge difference when you realize you’re making 30% fewer trips to the gas station.
This might be the perfect time to switch to the hybrid.

Every time I see ‘trans issues,’ I think this forum took a really different direction for a second.
