I recently bought a 2025 Calligraphy trim Santa Fe and had a chance to compare it with a Limited trim when my car needed repairs. The Calligraphy comes with the upgraded HDA2 system, while the Limited has HDA. Let me tell you, the difference is huge!
The HDA2 system is so much smoother. It stays centered in the lane better, switches lanes automatically, and shows cars around you on the dash and the heads-up display. HDA felt more jerky and didn’t stay centered as well.
If you’re deciding between trims, HDA2 alone makes the Calligraphy worth it. Just my thoughts!
Does HDA2 keep the car centered in the lane, or does it drift to one side? My sister’s 2024 Santa Fe with HDA seems to hug the left line too much, and it’s a bit nerve-wracking.

HDA2 in my car stays perfectly centered. If your sister’s car isn’t doing that, it might need to be checked. Sometimes what feels off is just how we’re used to driving, though.
I saw a YouTube video where someone said HDA2 wasn’t much different from HDA, and they didn’t like the auto lane change because it rarely worked for them in traffic.
I’ve had the Calligraphy for a while now, and the auto lane change works perfectly for me. It feels seamless and avoids the hassle of turning autopilot on and off for lane changes.
By the way, doesn’t HDA also show cars around you on the dash? I love that HDA2 puts them on the HUD too—it’s such a nice touch.

With HDA1 in my Santa Fe, auto-steer turns off when you use your signal, but cruise control stays on. Once you finish the lane change and turn off the signal, auto-steer kicks back in.

That sounds pretty straightforward. Definitely useful, though I still like the added smoothness of HDA2 for lane changes.

If you’ve set your cruise, turning on the blinker should let you change lanes automatically as long as the indicator turns green. It won’t adjust your speed unless you’re behind someone driving slower than your set speed.
I upgraded from a Kona Limited, so the advanced features in the Calligraphy were new to me. I mainly picked it for the color and tech, but wow—the HDA2 system is incredible. I took a long interstate trip recently and barely had to touch the wheel. It handled everything so smoothly, including lane changes. No regrets here!
