Looking for a dash cam for the 2024 Santa Fe… any tips?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to get a dash cam for my 2024 Santa Fe and was wondering if anyone has a good installation guide or video to share. Also, any recommendations for which dash cams are worth buying?

Viofo cams on Amazon are pretty solid. Fitcamx makes ones that blend in really well with the interior, and Blackvue has a helpful website that shows all their options.

I’ve got a Viofo A229 Plus with 2K front and rear recording. If you’re looking for 4K, check out the A229 Pro. If you plan to install it yourself, make sure to route the wires away from the airbags. If that seems like too much hassle, you could have Best Buy do it for about $100.

@River
Where exactly are the airbags located? I ran the wires for the rear cam just under the edge of the headliner, next to the pillar trim. Didn’t take anything apart, so I’m not sure where the airbags are.

@Ripley
For the 2024/25 models, the side curtain airbags are up near the top of the headliner, running the length of the car. I had Best Buy install mine, and they told me they removed the trim and zip-tied the cables behind the airbags. You might want to double-check your setup just to be safe.

@River
I checked the shop manual, and it looks like the airbags are a couple of inches up from the headliner edge. Tucking the cables near the door gasket and pillar trim shouldn’t be a problem.

Good to hear! Always better to be cautious.

@River
Yeah, I’d feel better with some clearer pics. I might grab a shop manual to see exactly where everything is. Don’t want to take off the trim if I don’t have to, but I also don’t want to risk anything!

I’ve got a Thinkware U3000 arriving today and plan to install it myself this week. I couldn’t find any videos specifically for the ‘24/‘25 Santa Fe, so I might make my own. My biggest concern is making sure I don’t mess with the side curtain airbags.

@Teal
I checked the shop manual about this. I ran my wires just under the headliner on the passenger side to reach the trunk. The airbags are a bit higher up, so it doesn’t seem like it’ll be an issue.

I have a Garmin Dashcam 57 that I carried over from my previous car. I also added the parking mode cable and connected it to the fuse box with fuse taps, so it records when something triggers the motion sensor. Garmin’s dash cams are great, and the app is really user-friendly.

@Jules
Which fuses did you tap into for power?

I used a multimeter to find fuses with constant power for the ‘battery’ wire and accessory power for the ‘accessory’ wire. I grounded it to a bolt on the fuse panel. Just avoid important fuses like airbags, in case of any issues.

I’m using the Thinkware Q1000. I hardwired it and ran the cables down the A-pillar and under the door sills to the back. It wasn’t too difficult.

How did you find the process of removing the trim pieces? Did you have to take off the weather stripping?

The Viofo with Sony Starvis 2 sensors are great.

I got a Viofo 229 Plus. Tucking the wires wasn’t hard, and the fuse taps made it a clean install without cutting any wires. The only tricky part was fishing the wire through the rubber gasket on the hatch.

I’m using the 70mai A810 with both front and rear cameras, along with their battery pack for parking mode. Did the install myself and it’s working great.

This could be a cool option: 70mai Omni Dashcam. Looks functional and stylish.

I’m planning to get the Fitcam this week.
